An odd yet heartwarming discovery was made at Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven this week when a missing stuffed dinosaur toy was found by the entrance.

On Thursday, August 15th, around noon time, Lucy Vieira, a resident of New Bedford, found the toy and immediately thought of the little boy or girl who might have dropped it by accident. She then promptly left it in a visible spot for its owner to retrieve.

Vieira selflessly propped up the stegosaurus dinosaur near the entrance to Fort Phoenix, placing the toy to the left of the entrance sign with a hopeful message. "I'm not sure if there's a little kid out there missing their dinosaur," Vieira said, "but I put him right near the entrance to Fort Phoenix (to the left of the sign)."

Her only hope is that the rightful owner will soon be reunited with their cherished stuffed friend. In a world where small gestures of kindness can make a big difference, Vieira's act of returning the toy serves as a reminder of the goodwill still present in our SouthCoast community.
