Fairhaven Massachusetts Ties for People’s Sexiest Man Alive

People magazine has officially selected this year's choice for Sexiest Man Alive, and it's Massachusetts native John Krasinski.

Krasinski's recent designation as this year's People's "Sexiest Man Alive" has all of us celebrating the actor’s Massachusetts roots and the journey that took him from the Newton South halls to Hollywood’s hottest guy.

Born a Sox Fan

Born in Newton, Krasinski’s Massachusetts roots are a defining part of his story. Growing up in New England, Krasinski developed the affable charm that would later lead him to millions.

In an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, hosted by a New Hampshire native, Krasinksi talked about the pride he has for all things Boston sports, especially being a Red Sox.

“Red Sox fans from New Hampshire are like the JV squad compared to Red Sox fans from Massachusetts," he said. “It's like we ride in the bus and you guys ride in the cars behind the bus.”

Newton School Days with B.J. Novak

Krasinski’s high school experience at Newton South High School holds an interesting twist of fate: his classmate B.J. Novak, who would later play Ryan Howard alongside Krasinski on The Office, was not only a friend but also a teammate on their Little League baseball team.

Both Krasinski and Novak graduated together in 1997. Reflecting on their high school friendship, Novak joked about how surreal it was for both of them to end up on a hit show together, sharing a friendship that has now spanned over decades.

Krasinski’s path to stardom has seen him take on a range of roles, from Jim Halpert’s subtle humor on The Office to action-packed performances in 13 Hours and Jack Ryan. He has remained connected to his roots, however, often referencing the values instilled in him during his time in Massachusetts.

Summers in Fairhaven

Krasinski's Massachusetts roots are more than just a footnote in his life; they are a central theme that he carries with pride. Interestingly enough, his roots expand to the SouthCoast, where Krasinski's parents still own a summer home.

Krasinski has been spotted over the years at a number of different Fairhaven businesses, but when he's here on the SouthCoast, he mostly likes to relax at his parent's waterfront property.

His wife Emily Blunt joked that she was going to wallpaper their home with the People magazine cover of his Sexiest Man Alive edition. No word yet if his brothers are threatening to do the same at the families beachfront home.
