Fairhaven Homecoming Day Fair Postponed Until 2022
The Fairhaven Homecoming Day Fair this year has become another casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Homecoming Day Chair Barbara Acksen released a statement on Saturday, saying on behalf of the Fairhaven Improvement Association, this year's Homecoming Day celebration has been postponed till June 25, 2022.
Acksen says the well-being of the general public, vendors, and town employees remains the Association's number one priority.
"Despite gradual opening of the state, health advisories indicate that the public would still not be safe at a large-scale event such as this. Street Festivals are currently prohibited and no significant change in this prohibition is indicated in the near future. We therefore believe that postponement is the responsible course of action," said Acksen.
Acksen says the Fairhaven Homecoming Day Fair has been the town's largest and most popular event for many years, attracting thousands of people to the Center of town.
"Our committee is already at work planning for different requirements that may be needed for the Fair to take place next year. We look forward to welcoming the public then."
