Hidden Arcade Inside Fairhaven Smoothie Shop Is Bringing Back 90s Fun
The Fairhaven Arcade You Dont Know About
If you think arcades are a thing of the past, you might want to take a closer look inside Farm 2 Cup in Fairhaven.
Tucked inside this smoothie and boba shop is something most people would never expect. There's a small but growing retro arcade that is quietly becoming a hit with locals.
Owner Shawn Mello opened the Fairhaven location about five months ago, expanding from his original Raynham shop. While business started slow during the winter months, things are finally picking up as the weather warms and more people stop in for acai bowls, smoothies and now a little gaming on the side.
Why Put Arcade Games In A Smoothie Shop
Unlike the Raynham location, the Fairhaven shop was built from scratch which gave Mello room to experiment. He noticed kids riding bikes nearby and had a simple idea bring in a few arcade machines and see what happens.
It worked.
Now, students and younger customers regularly stop in after school to play while waiting for their drinks.
A Throwback To The 90s
Mello grew up on classic games and wanted to bring that same feeling back.
Inside, you will find fan favorites like Mortal Kombat, PacSun and even a claw machine that has become a major hit with kids. According to Mello, the claw actually has a pretty good win rate which only adds to the excitement.
Could The Arcade Get Bigger
Right now, the shop has a handful of machines, but there is room to grow.
Mello says he could fit at least two more games and is even open to customer suggestions. If people keep showing interest, the arcade could expand just in time for summer.
