FAIRHAVEN (WBSM) — The new Burlington store in Fairhaven now has a grand opening date, and it might just be a lucky day.

The discount retailer confirmed to WBSM back in April that it was moving into the space in the Fairhaven Commons shopping plaza that was formerly occupied by Ocean State Job Lot prior to Job Lot’s move across Route 6 back in 2017.

The Fairhaven Commons space, located next to Marshalls, has sat vacant since then.

The Burlington crew has been feverishly working all summer to prep the store for an expected September opening. First, the interior of the space was remodeled, then a sign was erected, and most recently, product was moved in.

Now, we know the anticipated opening date of the Fairhaven Burlington, as announced by the chain on its website, is Friday, September 13.

Clearly, Burlington is not superstitious.

That means the store will open just in time to get all of your holiday and fall decor deals as well as clothing, shoes, and other home goods.

Burlington will join Harbor Freight Tools, which recently opened in the former Regal House Furniture space next to the current Job Lot, as Fairhaven’s newest national retailers in town.

Currently there are over 1,000 Burlington stores. Other local stores include Dartmouth at the Dartmouth Mall, Fall River and Raynham.

Burlington is holding a hiring event today at the store that goes until 4:30 p.m. and also has a website set up for those who wish to apply online. The store is hiring cashiers, customer service representatives, sales associates, receiving associates and shortage control. You can also text 97211 to apply.
