A fatal crash in Dighton that claimed the life of a motorcyclist is under investigation by authorities.

A joint release from Fire Chief Christopher Maguy and Police Chief Robert MacDonald reports that the Dighton Police and Fire Departments responded just after 8 p.m. tonight to a fatal crash at the intersection of Main and Elm Streets.

According to the release, first responders arrived to find that a motorcycle and a car had collided. The motorcyclist died as a result of their injuries. They were not identified, pending notification of next of kin.

An occupant of the car was transported to a local hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Another occupant of the car refused transport to the hospital, according to the chiefs.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Dighton Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
