I've been making a few trips back and forth down Faunce Corner Road the past few days because, like many in the area, I am one of COVID-19's post-holiday surge victims. Today, however, on my third trip back to Hawthorn Medical to have my kids tested, I noticed a new sign that had me laughing all the way to the doctor's door.

Anyone who lives in the area already knows that Faunce Corner traffic is enough to put a damper on anyone's day. That feeling is only multiplied when you are in the car with an annoyed spouse and screaming kids. Those feelings of frustration do not pair well with the anxiety of knowing your kids are about to have their brains scraped for a COVID test.

We were in the home stretch of our commute to Hawthorn Medical, racing to make our 11 a.m. appointment time, and successfully made it past the bottlenose that happens near the Vanity Fair building.

And there it was, a giant sign with a cute dog sitting in the grass, looking at oncoming traffic with its giant puppy dog eyes and a tagline I did not expect.

After living on memes this whole year, it's hard to get a good chuckle out of me for anything else. This sign was definitely what I needed today. Kudos to the staff for taking a risk and putting up something that I'm sure some folks have found fault with, but I, on the other hand, love it. I Shih Tzu not.  Please don't ever take it down.
