DARTMOUTH (WBSM) — A water main break has forced a Dartmouth elementary school to move students to the middle school and then dismiss them early.

In an email sent out to parents, Superintendent June Saba-Maguire informed the families of the Quinn Elementary School that a water main break at the school had forced the students to move from the elementary school to the nearby Dartmouth Middle School, a half-mile away.

“Students will be walking to the middle school under the guidance of teachers and staff,” the email read. “Upon arrival, they will be directed to the school auditorium.”

“Unfortunately, we will need to dismiss the Quinn students at 12 p.m.” Saba-Maguire wrote.

However, students are not being bussed home and will instead need someone to pick them up.

“An approved adult from your emergency contact will need to pick up your child at Dartmouth Middle School. There will be Quinn School staff present at the middle school main office to coordinate dismissals,” the email stated.

“In the event that you are unable to be at the middle school by 12 p.m., your child will remain at the middle school until someone arrives,” Saba-Maguire wrote.

The email concluded that school officials and the Dartmouth Water Department are working to address the water main break and will keep the families informed of any updates.
