Dartmouth Library Now Lends Pickleball Gear, Tools and More
The Dartmouth Public Library just launched a new program that lets you borrow more than just books.
Looking to pick up a new hobby like learning a musical instrument, or maybe you have been wanting to try the new pickleball trend and don't know where to begin?
May I suggest starting at the Dartmouth Public Library. The library recently started what it is calling the "Library of Things" collection. This collection has items that both children and adults can borrow for free.

The library wants this new collection to help encourage people to explore and inspire while being less wasteful.
Items range from a DVD player to pickleball paddles. The library has provided a complete list of items that are currently available to borrow.
What Can You Borrow From Dartmouth's "Library of Things?"
Family fun items at Southworth and North Branch: astronaut projector, bubble machine, beach toys, fort building kit, gear bots, binoculars, globe, Mr. Pencil Scribble, Write and Read, a toy guitar and maracas, glow-in-the-dark Marble Run, microscope, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza card game, and wooden Tetris puzzles.
Helpful items at Southworth and North Branch: Kill-a-Watt Meter and hotspots. A hotspot is a wireless access point that lets you connect phones, tablets, computers and other devices to the internet when you are on the go.
Additional cool items at the North Branch Library: Binoculars, Blu Ray player, compact keyboard, CD player, cornhole set, foldable garden kneeler seat, gardening tools, giant four-in-a-row game, portable photo studio light box, karaoke machine, food dehydrator machine, portable DVD player, pickleball paddles, round knitting looms set, sewing machine, ukulele, ring toss game and a yarn winder.
All of these items are free to borrow for one week at a time with a SAILS library card and borrowers must be at least 18 years old.

Summer can be a tough time financially on many families looking to keep everyone entertained and this is absolutely another option.
The list of current items is pretty diverse and features lots of items that encourage learning and exploration.
“The staff is beyond excited to offer a Library of Things to the community, and we look forward to expanding this collection soon.” said Dina St. Pierre, Director of Libraries for the Town of Dartmouth.

I wish something like the "Library of Things" was around when I was a kid. Maybe we can help them expand with suggestions? What do you think the library could add that you would like to borrow?
