ACUSHNET — A male cyclist has been killed in a crash with a large truck on South Main Street in Acushnet.

Acushnet Police Chief Christopher Richmond said the crash took place near 59 South Main St. at around 12:32 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22.

Emergency crews received multiple 911 calls about a crash between a large truck and a bicycle rider.

First responders arrived to find the cyclist suffering from grave injuries, and he was declared dead at the scene.

The man is not being identified pending the notification of his next of kin.

According to Richmond, the truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Acushnet police are investigating the cause of the crash along with Massachusetts State Police.

The road was temporarily closed for the investigation.
