Boston Favorite Anna’s Taqueria Opens First Rhode Island Spot
A popular Boston taco spot is opening its first-ever Rhode Island location this month, bringing its signature burritos, tacos, and towering Mexican bowls to Garden City Center in Cranston soon.
Anna's Taqueria has been a Boston favorite since first opening in 1995. After expanding to a dozen locations throughout Massachusetts, the beloved taqueria is finally bringing its food across state lines.
The new Mexican restaurant will open in the Whole Foods Plaza on February 24, 2026, marking the first of four new restaurants scheduled to open at Garden City over the next two years.
Anna’s Taqueria’s Rhode Island Debut — What to Expect
Anna's Taqueria is moving into the former Boston Market space at 185 Sockanosset Cross Road, which has been empty since summer 2023. Their newest location will feature over 3,000 square-feet of dining space with counter and table seating for around 42 guests.

Typically a counter-service restaurant, where guests order their burritos to go, the high-top communal tables and booth seating will give diners several options when they arrive.
Menu Highlights: Burritos, Tacos, Bowls & Drinks
The Anna's Taqueria menu is full of options as well. Options ranging from protein bowls to veggie quesadillas, sure to meet many dietary needs. Traditional Mexican drinks like horchata (made with nuts, rice, milk and cinnamon) and jamaica (brewed hibiscus petals) add even more unique menu options.

Some of these options will even be offered at special opening day prices when Anna's Taqueria makes their Ocean State debut.
Opening Day Deal
In honor of their original location's 1995 opening, the Garden City eatery will offer its super burritos at 1995 prices. That means their typically $9.95 super burrito for just $3.50. In-store only, one per customer and add-ons will be priced a la carte.
More Eateries Coming Soon to Garden City
Later this year, Sally's Apizza will open in the former Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza location and in 2027 Garden City will add Lanner Noodles in the one-time Bistro 22 locale. A PopUp Bagels is also coming to the Cranston shopping center, though the date on that eatery's opening remains unclear.
