Johnny Depp may not have been among them, but there was a pirate ship off the coast of Cape Cod yesterday and it was in some trouble.

According to the Coast Guard a replica pirate ship called "Liana's Ransom" was in distress yesterday morning and her crew of nine "pirates" had to be rescued.

The ship's engines were disabled and their sails had gotten wrapped around the mast, leaving the Canadian crew adrift as the weather deteriorated and the seas reached about 10 feet.

When the Coast Guard got to the "pirates" they tried to tow their ship back to Gloucester, but the rough conditions caused the tow line to snap. The men on-board ended up having to abandon ship and one suffered a head injury leaping from Liana's Ransom. He was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital and the other eight crew members were brought to the Coast Guard Station Gloucester.

A locator beacon had to be left on the ship so that the Coast Guard could come back at another time and try to tow it back to port.

Not the most impressive pirates ever, but glad to hear the crew is okay.
