Is it just me, or is the Christmas spirit not the same as it used to be?

I recently saw a quote on Instagram saying, "No holiday should manipulate you to the point where you're going into debt just to show someone you love them." This got me thinking about how Christmas doesn't feel the same as it used to.
Christmas seems like it has become less about doing good deeds for others and more about putting loads of money into commercialized things. They practically start advertising for Christmas shopping in late October, and they start showing Christmas movies before December. I've seen networks play Christmas movies in July before.
Another reason why I feel this way is because a lot of people are grumpy and on edge when you got out to shop. It feels like it's a video game when trying to park, because you're pretty much guaranteed to get involved in a parking lot war to grab a spot. A few days ago when I went shopping, one lady almost hit my car while racing towards a spot. I blew my horn because she was so close to the car. After I did that, she hopped out of the car and started yelling at me, as if it was my fault, completely ignoring the fact she almost took off the front of my car.
That doesn't feel like the Christmas spirit at all.
What do you think? Is Christmas the same?
