Celebrity Chef Jet Tilakamonkul Takes Over UMass Dartmouth Dining Hall
From Iron Chef America to Chopped and now UMass Dartmouth, Chef Jet Tilakamonkul has found his way to the SouthCoast.
On Tuesday, October 4th, the students and staff of UMass Dartmouth were graced by the presence of the celebrity chef who has only visited once more around 4-5 years ago.
Around noontime, "Tila" was met with a warm welcome from the students in The Grove: the campus dining hall. Posters of his visit were plastered around the campus bringing attention to his brief demonstration on how to properly cook exotic fish such as Monk and Red Snapper.
Local fishermen provided the seafood while the culinary chefs at UMass Dartmouth prepared it with guidance from Chef Tila.

"Our chefs prepped by filleting the fish and cutting it into medallions before placing the finished cooked product over brown rice," UMass Chef Paul Massey said, "We then served it to the students while Chef Tila spoke to the students and promoted his new show on the Food Network."
It's called "Halloween Cookie Challenge" and the first episode airs on Friday, October 7th at 10:00 PM on the Food Network.
"This Halloween, candy is not the only sweet treat we'll be enjoying. Expert chef Jet Tila and baking queen Rosanna Pansino bring together four of the best cookie makers in the country to compete in two rounds of baking, decorating and 3D cookie making to prove they are the cookier to fear! The winner will take home a trick-or-treat bag filled with $10,000 and the title of Halloween Cookie Champion." -Food Network
Before visiting the campus, Tila made a quick stop over at Mirasol's Cafe on Route 6 for a quick photo op and of course, grabbed one of Mirasol's famously popular "Chippi" for the road.
