Cat Food Recall
If you own cats, then you need to hear about this recall.
Several types of 9 Lives, EverPet and Special Kitty canned cat food has been voluntarily recalled by The J.M. Smucker Company of Ohio.
The company says the food is being recalled due to possible low levels of thiamine (Vitamin B1).
Thiamine is essential to a cat's healthy diet and those fed low doses of the important vitamin for several weeks can have gastrointestinal or even neurological issues.
The affected products were distributed by the company between December 20, 2016 and January 3, 2017.
The affected production includes the following:

No illnesses related to this recall have been reported, but if you feel your cat may be affected you should look for signs of thiamine deficiency such as decreased appetite, salivation, vomiting, and weight loss. In advanced cases, neurological signs can develop, which include ventroflexion (bending towards the floor) of the neck, wobbly walking, circling, falling, and seizures.
Contact your veterinarian immediately if your cat is displaying any of these symptoms. If treated promptly, thiamine deficiency is typically reversible.
