Student-Powered Junk Removal Company Expands to Cape Cod
"Two brothers, one idea, and a borrowed truck."
That's the humble beginning of one local business.
"JunkTeens was started by brothers Kirk Jr. McKinney and Jacob McKinney after they began reselling items from the local dump using a borrowed truck," Cape Cod Manager Dylan Grady said.
The business quickly took off and became what JunkTeens is now: a full junk removal business that Grady said is "built around hard work, community impact, and sustainability."
Expanding Onto Cape Cod
In the summer of 2025, JunkTeens expanded onto Cape Cod.
"Since my parents had moved to the area a couple of years ago, I stepped in to take charge of the Cape Cod location and help grow the brand there," Grady said.

"We chose junk removal because we saw a need for a service that didn’t just haul everything to a landfill," Grady said.
A Junk Removal Company Focused on Sustainability
Instead, JunkTeens focuses on donating, recycling, and reusing items whenever possible. "This allows us to help people clear their spaces while also helping the community and reducing waste," Grady said.

Growth, Employees and Community Impact
The team has grown quickly, too. JunkTeens is now made up of 15 to 20 employees, mostly high school and college students.
"We currently have multiple trucks and a donation warehouse where we sort and distribute donations," Grady said.

"One of the best parts of the job is seeing donated items go to people who really need them and watching the crew grow and gain confidence," Grady said. "After helping over 10,000 customers and keeping dozens of truckloads out of landfills, JunkTeens continues to make a real difference."
