Cape Cod Beach Named Among Best in the U.S.

Year after year, Cape Cod beaches get recognized as some of the best in the country. Here's who raving about one now.

He calls himself 'Dr Beach' and says his love of sand began as a child.

Now a professor and Director of the Laboratory for Coastal Research at Florida International University his work allows him to travel and study beaches. And his love of those beaches motivates him to rank his favorites.

For summer 2019 Dr. Beach has dubbed Kailua Beach Park in Hawaii as the best beach in the U.S. He notes the coral white sand and fairly small waves making it a great place to lounge, swim or kayak.

And though traveling to Hawaii is for sure on my life's bucket list, it's nice to know a great beach is way closer.

In fact an hour's drive down 195 and you'll hit number six on Dr Beach's list - Coast Guard Beach in Eastham.

Coast Guard Beach is part of the Cape Cod National Seashore and a great spot for surfing and boogie boarding.

Sadly it is hard to get to in the summer, since the parking lot is closed to everyone but staff and handicapped drivers you have to take a shuttle to get there.

'Dr Beach' has clearly been to hundreds, if not thousands, of beaches in his time. So if this one made his list, it might be the summer to check it out.
