There is a lot of negativity in the world, and one nonprofit organization has made it its mission to spread kindness to those who need it. Kind Hearts for Kids, Inc. is thrilled to host the Cape Cod Kindness Festival on November 13 at Buzzards Bay Park.

Kind Hearts for Kids, Inc. serves vulnerable children and teens living in foster, adoptive, and kinship care by being a compassionate, supportive, and positive influence on the children.

Their mission statement reads, “We engage and bring awareness to their needs through service projects in our local community,” and their latest project lands on World Kindness Day to bring the community a day of joy.

“We are always looking for ways to encourage kindness in our community, so why not have a Kindness Festival?” said Nicole Mitchell, founder and president of Kind Hearts for Kids, Inc. “The idea is supported by the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce and was based on the community we experienced being part of at Cape Cod Canal Day.”

The festival will be based on four areas of kindness: kindness to self, to others, to animals, and to the planet.

“We will have many kind-hearted vendors, food trucks, alpacas and goats from Pine Meadow Alpacas, and a kid zone with 10-plus kindness activities for kids three and older," Mitchell said.

There is even a kindness challenge and kindness contest leading up to the event.

“To me, World Kindness Day is a day to spread extra kindness far and wide and encourage others to do the same,” Mitchell said. “The perfect day to kick off our annual fundraiser."

Mitchell looks at this event as the perfect opportunity to bring the people of Cape Cod and beyond together to raise awareness for kids and teens in the foster care system, as well as those who are being raised by grandparents.

“These children and teens have all experienced some sort of trauma to end up where they are, so it is our mission to help show them and the families we will take care of them with kindness and support,” she said.
