The Buttonwood Park Zoo has some new arrivals!

A one-and-a-half-year-old female Canada lynx named Sylvie and a 10-month-old orphaned coyote pup named Cody are the newest arrivals at the zoo.

The Herald News reports that Sylvie comes to Buttonwood Park Zoo from the Montreal Biodome per a breeding recommendation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Canada Lynx Species Survival Plan. The SSP's goal is to help lynx populations maintain a healthy and genetically diverse population and they work with accredited zoos like Buttonwood to do this.

The coyote pup on the other hand is from Minnesota and was found abandoned at four weeks old. Cody had to be bottle fed by a wildlife rehabilitator in order to survive and because of this he was imprinted to humans and couldn't be re-released into the wild.

Cody has actually been at the zoo since July, but took several months to get used to the sights and sounds of zoo. Visitors can now often see zoo staff and Cody out on walks exploring the zoo, educating visitors about coyotes, and allowing an up close look at one of the zoo’s newest members.

Sylvie the lynx is in the lynx exhibit next to the male Canada lynx, Calgary.
