According to Cruz, on May 21, 2021, Cox set fire to the Brockton apartment of the victim, who had an active restraining order out against him.

“Probation officials tracked Cox to the site and time of the fire because he was wearing his GPS monitoring bracelet,” Cruz stated in a release. “Following the incident, Cox cut off his bracelet, and continued to make contact with the victim.”

A warrant was sought for his arrest, and Cox was apprehended on June 8, 2021.
