SOMERSET - The now-defunct Brayton Point Power Station appears to have a brighter future thanks to a property developer.

According to the Herald News, the owners of the plant announced this week that the property in Somerset is being purchased by Commercial Development Company, Inc., out of St. Louis.

The station has been shut down since May 31 of this year.

It's not yet known how much the transaction is worth, but the sale is expected to be completed by the middle of December.

As part of the agreement, Commercial Development will assume responsibilities associated with the infrastructure that sits on the 307 acre property.

Commercial Development says it plans to make significant investments to "transform the former energy asset for post-coal utilization."
