Personal finance company WalletHub is no stranger to crunching numbers. It looked at a slew of information to determine which cities are best for hockey fans.

“Hockey is one of the most underappreciated sports in America, but its popularity is steadily growing, bringing in record-breaking revenue and attendance," WalletHub Analyst Chip Lupo said.

What Makes Boston So Great?

The Boston Bruins are a standout when it comes to winning and longevity. WalletHub cites Boston's six Stanley Cups, 20 division titles and its record for most regular season wins in NHL history.

"In addition, the Boston Bruins are the second-most valuable NHL team, worth $2.7 billion, and they have the third-most engaged fans on social media," it said.

The site also noted the city's success at the collegiate level. Boston College and Boston University's collective 10 NCAA championship titles make Boston a top city for college hockey.
