Family game night can now be taken to a whole new level.

I love playing board games, so this new bar officially opening this December in Boston's Mission Hill neighborhood sounds like a road trip worthy night out to me.

Tavern of Tales is a bar stocked with board games for hours of fun while grabbing some food and a few drinks with friends.

Honestly I am at the point in life where just sitting at a bar for hours is a bit boring. I'm not looking to meet someone and not really a "hit the dance floor" person, so a bar that offers up games to play is delightful.

And this bar takes it beyond the board game.

Tavern of Tales is designed as an immersive board game bar, offering customized sound effects, music and narration to enhance the game playing. Plus you get an expert "dungeon master" to guide your game-playing experience.

As they say on their Facebook page,

Here you’re not just playing a game, you’re living a story.

And their story sounds like a very unique bar experience.

There are only certain games to be played, and I personally have never played any of them. But I'd be willing to give them a go.

Mysterium, Eight Minute Empire, Forbidden Island, Robots on the Line, Tokaido and The Resistance are the games listed on their website. Descriptions of how to play  them and how long a game takes to play are listed there as well.
