You can enjoy science and the arts in Providence this weekend.

WaterFire will be joined by the Big Bang Science Fair this Saturday with lectures, hands-on activities and a whole lot more throughout Downtown Providence.

Science lovers young and old can head to the city to do all sorts of delightfully nerdy things both Saturday and Sunday, but after dark on Saturday night a full lighting WaterFire event will be going on too.

So if you want to do more than just walk around and enjoy the peaceful fires on the Providence River, this is the weekend for you.

The Big Bang Science Fair will give people a chance to stargaze with astronomers, design their own code robot and even take a selfie in the tunnel of the Large Hadron Collider.

This thing can create microscopic black holes! And you can take a picture in it. So cool. The CERN researchers will even be there at the event to answer questions. The geek in me is very excited.

As is the Game of Thrones fan in me.

That's because on Saturday at 7 p.m. there is going to be a Science of Game of Thrones lecture from Rebecca C. Thompson, Ph.D. all about dragon fire, ice walls and the science behind them.

Better be caught up on the series however, because there will be spoilers in her lecture.

It's just one of many lectures taking place from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the RISD Auditorium.

All the lectures are free, but you can reserve seats for ones you really want to see.
