Beat the Winter Blues at the Newport Winter Festival

The air has turned cold lately and people have been hunkering down indoors. But Newport has a great event to get you out into the winter weather next month.

Newport Winter Festival kicks off February 14th and fills the following 10 days with delightful winter fun for everyone.

"Non Stop Food, Music and Fun" is how organizers are describing the 32nd Annual Newport Winter Festival and I think that's 100 percent accurate.

From a mac and cheese smackdown to a princess party and even a Jimmy Buffet tribute band there is literally something for every person in your family to enjoy at this one.

Kids will love the Toe Jam Puppet Band and Rainforest Reptile Show on Sunday February 16th along with the Mad Science show on the 17th, Princess Party on the 18th and Teddy Bear Tea Party on the 19th.

All perfect for getting out of the house for school vacation week.

And if you'd rather leave the kids at home for your adventure into Newport, how about the Polar Pineapples ice bar on Goat Island February 14th and 15th? Or the Sam Adams beer dinner on the 18th and Best Hot Drink Contest at the Red Parrot on the 20th.

And for those brave enough to hang out at the beach in February, there are even going to be beach polo matches on February 22nd and 23rd.
