This Rhode Island Fried Fish Spot Is Worth the Drive From the SouthCoast
For many living in Southern New England, summer is the most highly anticipated season of the year. From the long beach days to the fireside nights, summer always hits a little different on the SouthCoast.
Maybe it's all the amazing seafood and scenic outdoor dining that makes us look forward to our favorite summer foods each season as well.
While summer can be filled with chowderfests, lobster roll road trips and ice cream every night of the week, one local meal might be getting overlooked.

Why Fried Fish Deserves More Attention
Self-proclaimed "food nerd" website, Chowhound, recently ranked an underrated restaurant type and laid out their "Best Fried Fish Joint in Every State" list for readers.
It's not surprising that Massachusetts' best spot for fried fish is found in Boston, right along the harbor. The Boston Sail Loft with over 40 years in business was a best bet for this list, with their massive portions and numerous awards.

That's because it isn't found in one of Rhode Island's more touristy spots, but instead is a quick drive from the SouthCoast. According to Chowhound, Amaral's Fish & Chips on Redmond Street in Warren serves the best fish and chips in the entire Ocean State.

Luckily those along the SouthCoast don't have to travel too far. They also don't have to stick with fish and chips.
A SouthCoast Favorite Worth the Trip
Amaral's menu also has stand-out sides like fried clams and house-made Portuguese specialties that reflect the region's heritage. Not too surprising from a restaurant named Amaral's.
In an area renowned for its seafood, standing out isn't always easy. But this local favorite is proving you don't have to go too far or get too fancy to find some of the best fried fish around.
