Nathan is a 12-year-old boy who is energetic, creative and an all-around great kid. His social worker, who has been with him for three years, said she’s seen his personality grow significantly during that time.

Nathan is always doodling, and he loves to draw and color. He’s often found sketching on the whiteboards around the office. Staff members return to their offices to find unexpected artwork and instantly know that Nathan stopped by while they were gone.

A Love for Numbers and a Big Heart

Nathan is fairly verbal and primarily communicates in short sentences or with just a few words. He also loves to count.

“He’ll draw five little circles and count each one, and then have you count them too,” his social worker said. “He’s also a big fan of affection. It won’t take long for you to build rapport with him. Literally everybody who meets him instantly falls in love with him.”

Nathan wears headphones to help with sensory issues and loud environments, which support his comfort in crowded spaces.

Nathan’s Ideal Home

Nathan would thrive in just about any home, but he would do especially well in an environment where he’s free to be creative. He simply needs a family that will love and accept him for who he is.

Who Can Adopt?

If you’re at least 18, have a stable source of income, and have room in your heart, you may be a perfect match to adopt a waiting child.

Adoptive parents can be single, married, or partnered; experienced or not; renters or homeowners; LGBTQ+ singles and couples are all welcome.

As an adoptive parent, you won’t have to pay any fees. Adoption from foster care is completely free in Massachusetts.

Adopting a child from foster care includes training, interviews, and home visits to determine if adoption is right for you. These steps will help match you with a child or sibling group that will be a great fit.

To learn more about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at (617) 964-6273 or visit www.mareinc.org. Start the process today and give a waiting child a permanent place to call home.
