If you hang out with Darwin for just five or 10 minutes, it becomes apparent that this child brings a positive attitude to life.

Darwin loves to jump and play outside. He loves playing on his baseball, soccer and basketball teams, and is looking forward to spending a lot of time this summer swimming at the beach. He loves one-on-one time.

This is a boy who loves anything and everything to do with cars. He enjoys learning about them, he plays with them, and can name the make and model of almost any car on I-195.

Darwin likes to build race tracks and ramps, and collects Hot Wheels. He hopes to become a racecar driver or a mechanic when he grows up.

He also loves music and often sings along to songs he hears on Fun 107. He loves going to church with his foster family, sings in the church choir and plays the drums.

The boy is very social and has no problems making friends or connecting with people. He enjoys spending time with his foster brothers, playing basketball, and riding his bike, scooter or skate board.

He loves animals and he loves to play and cuddle with his foster family’s cat. This past Christmas, Darwin listed “toys for my cat” on his Christmas wish list.

Darwin's counselor has seen him thrive as the youngest in his biological and foster families, so she believes that a house with older siblings would be ideal. It is very important to Darwin that he is able to maintain bi-monthly visits with his birth family.

The 10-year-old is very loving and affectionate and is looking to share his positivity with a SouthCoast family.

Who Can Adopt?

If you’re at least 18 years old, have a stable source of income and have room in your heart, you may be a perfect match to adopt a waiting child. Adoptive parents can be single, married or partnered; experienced or not; renters or homeowners; LGBTQ+ singles and couples.

As an adoptive parent, you won’t have to pay any fees. Adoption from foster care is completely free in Massachusetts.

The process to adopt a child from foster care includes training, interviews and home visits to determine if adoption is right for you. These steps will help match you with a child or sibling group that will be a good fit.

To learn more about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at (617) 964-6273 or visit www.mareinc.org. Start the process today and give a waiting child a permanent place to call home.
