Folks driving through a specific intersection in Abington last week were treated to an impromptu disco party when one of the traffic lights was malfunctioning.

West Bridgewater resident Valerie Jenness was rolling through the intersection of Washington Street and Centre Avenue in Abington at about 2 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31 when she saw flashing lights.

It took a moment for Jenness to realize it was coming from the traffic light, as the red, yellow and green lights were each continuously blinking.

“At first, I wasn't sure what it was flashing was off the house across from me. I looked up the street and I noticed the light and thought, that's something you don't see everyday,” she said.

All the other lights were blinking red, she said, and only that one light was blinking with all the colors.

When Jenness went back through the intersection at around 8 a.m. the lights were still “flipping out,” she said.

“There were stop signs placed at the intersection then,” Jenness said.

When she went through the intersection again Wednesday evening, the light had been fixed.
