With school vacation week coming up, it has many parents fumbling to find things to do to fill the days next week with some quality family time with the kids.  I'm a big fan of doing quick little day trips up, or one night stays that aren't too far away.  For example, the ice castles in New Hampshire that open each year are the perfect winter activity.  They're not too far away and are placed within a stone's throw of Loon Mountain, so there are other fun things to do.

I stumbled upon something today that reminded me a bit of a spring version of the brightly colored and aesthetically pleasing ice castles.  If you and your family like playing in the outdoors, you will enjoy this.  The Adventure Park in Storrs, Connecticut is going to be launching their "Glow in the Park."

The Adventure Park at Storrs Connecticut is all about ziplining, rope courses, ax throwing and more.  The park features 9 treetop trails and 106 treetop platforms connected by bridges, ropes courses, ladders, 28 ziplines and other crossings.

If that sounds intimidating to your or some other people in your family, rest assured that there is something for everyone of every fitness level.

While the park is going to be open during April school vacation week, it is not debuting the Glow in the Park feature until Saturday night, May 6.  At night, the park will be transformed into a "wonderland of fairy and LED lights to bring a sparkle of extra excitement to your adventure."  It is an event that draws people from all over New England.  If your family is into adrenaline outdoor fresh air fun, it might be worth the sub-two hour trip from New Bedford.

Park Manager Jesse Pasacreta says "We are thrilled to bring back Glow in the Park for another season.  Our guests love the different themes we offer, from Top 40 and Movie Themes, to 70s, 80s, 90s and more.”
