As the year winds down, soccer (or football) fans around the world are counting down the days until the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Local fans are in luck, because they won't have to travel far to witness the action. Seven games will be held at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.

When they're not competing on the Patriots' turf, players will be practicing at a local "base camp" in Rhode Island.

Located roughly 35 minutes away from Gillette stands Bryant University. Home of the Bulldogs, Bryant University has been named a base camp for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

"We are proud that a wider audience will get to see what we already know: the high quality and high caliber of the state of Rhode Island and of Bryant University," said Bryant President Ross Gittell, Ph.D.

A World Cup base camp serves as a home for athletes where they can train, recover, and focus solely on the game in a private setting.
