The Fall River YMCA, a branch of YMCA Southcoast, hosted “Corks & Forks” in the new event space at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River. The annual wine and beer tasting fundraiser took place on Thursday, October 20, and was the first event to be held in the new space.

This annual event raised more money than ever before. Over $32,000 was brought in to support the Fall River YMCA’s Annual Campaign. In an effort to include everyone at the Y, money raised through the Annual Campaign supports families and individuals in need. Approximately 4,000 individuals at YMCA Southcoast’s six branches receive direct aid each year towards membership, programs, childcare, and camp through YCares Scholarships, supported by the Annual Campaign.

James Scherer is the YMCA Southcoast President and CEO. He reflected on how this event will benefit the Southcoast.

“We were proud to partner with a Fall River landmark venue to host this event,” Scherer said. “Funding from this event is vital in helping us reach our Annual Campaign goal so that we can continue to serve the YMCA Southcoast community.”
