Woman Found Dead Outside of New Bedford Housing Project, Police Investigating

State and local police are investigating the death of a woman who's body was found over the weekend.

Police say the unidentified woman's body was found near the Presidential Heights housing development at Mount Pleasant and Fillmore Streets in New Bedford early Saturday morning. Police believe the woman died of a suspected drug overdose.

Police are still working to determine the woman's identity. State Police have released the following statement:
