How often do you hear or see a group of 8th graders build a boat?! Well, that's exactly what these Westport Middle School students accomplished and successfully launched for the very first time.

On June 26th, 2016 at exactly 1 PM, 22 Westport Community School students launched "The Spirit of Westport" into the Head of Westport at the Westport Town Landing.

Two boats were launched, one by the students ("The Spirit of Westport") and the other by a group called Dharma Voyage. Their boat was named  "Dory" and it was  built by their Youth Rowing Team.

It was a very eventful day filled with the two boat launching and christenings, speakers and acknowledgements, a Tai Chi Demonstration and a Bag Pipe Procession.
