Watch: New Bedford High Grad Releases Music Video
Alana Monteiro is no stranger to show business. Fun 107 has covered the New Bedford High School grad's previous accomplishments, including an appearance in the film Hocus Pocus 2 and her modeling photos displayed in Times Square.
She recorded music before, but this time she has produced an accompanying music video for her new single, "High."
How Did You Come Up With the Concept For the Video?
I literally created it all myself. I just saw this vision in my head when I was listening to the song and I wrote down all the scenes. It was just a matter of reaching out to people to see who would be interested in doing this with me. Those are my real friends and those are actually their real personalities.
Was "High" About a Real Life Breakup?
There was a relationship I went through and during the breakup I just wrote the whole song. I sent him the first verse during the breakup, so he might know the song is about him. I don't know, we don't speak anymore.
How Much Did the Video Cost to Make?
Nothing. We all we did it for free. They told me I needed like 50k to create this video and I just got all the people I work with and people who just wanted the exposure. It was all of our first time doing a music video. A lady gave me her green screen studio for free for the day. She was like, 'I love your hustle and I love your ambition You remind me of me when I was your age.' That saved about 5k a day.
Monteiro says she's living back in Boston and working on modeling projects and recording music.
"I also do a lot of commercials. I have a commercial out right now with the Celtics which is airing on ESPN. It's with Amica Insurance and the Celtics. I play a college student who is cheering at a bar. We shot it in September and it just came out a week ago. She is wearing a Celtics sweatshirt :26 seconds into the commercial.
Monteiro documented the behind the scenes look at how they shot her video.
