I know I was an advocate for snowy weather at the beginning of the season, but I’ll be honest with you and say that I’m totally done with it. Waking up every morning and getting into a freezing car is getting old. Not to mention, pumping gas after the sun goes down is one of my least favorite activities.

I am happy to hear that the SouthCoast may experience some record highs by the end of the week. I could definitely use some Vitamin D in my life, but is this all talk or can I officially unpack my flip-flops?

Boston.com reports that “Thursday is our best chance for setting new records in at least one or two of the major climate sites in Southern New England.” Even today, you could feel the warmth of the sun with temperatures in the 50s, a promising sign for later in the week.

The Weather Atlas shows that New Bedford’s highest temperature on record for the month of March was 80 degrees. We won’t be reaching beach-like temperatures, but hopefully, by Thursday, we’ll see the thermostat reach new heights.

I reached out to ABC6 Storm Tracker meteorologist Chelsea Priest before I really got my hopes up about warm weather, and she confirmed that afternoon highs will be in the mid-60s inland.

"It will be a few degrees cooler at the coast, but still mild for this time of year," she said. "Plenty of sunshine to go along with the warm temperatures, so a really great day expected!”

In true New England fashion, however, weather will drop back down by Saturday into the 40s, so it looks like my flip-flops will stay packed away a little while longer. The warm front will be short-lived but highly welcomed by me. Plan to soak up some sunshine in the coming days.
