A little Facebook sleuthing just uncovered a tasty surprise for Wareham.

The former Scarlet Rose Bistro at 196 Main Street has been closed for about a year. It's been sitting quietly in the center of town, but is officially getting a second life – and not just any revival, but one led by the owners of one of New Bedford’s most beloved spots: The Pour Farm Tavern.

On Tuesday, November 18, Pour Farm owners Jen and Brad Cardoza swapped the old Bistro’s Facebook profile photo with the Pour Farm Tavern logo, and that single change was all it took to get the town buzzing. Anyone who has been to their downtown New Bedford location on Purchase Street knows what this could mean for Wareham: elevated bar food, craft beer done right, and that cozy neighborhood vibe Pour Farm fans love.

The Cardozas have been quietly renovating the space for several months, including expanding the kitchen to support a larger, more creative menu. Jen said they’ve been putting their touches on the "beautiful" building with the hope of bringing the Pour Farm feel to Main Street.

Facebook Reaction Was Instant

As soon as the updated profile photo went live, Wareham locals jumped in with excitement. Comments poured in such as “So excited,” “Don’t tease me,” and “Main Street’s gonna be hopping,” a playful nod to beer hops and the anticipated energy the tavern will bring.

Others welcomed the addition of a place that serves “good beer” and called the upcoming opening “a serious plus for the town.”

Aiming for an Opening by Year’s End

While there’s no official opening date yet, the Cardozas are hoping to complete their renovations by the end of the year.

If everything goes as planned, Wareham’s Main Street will soon have a fresh new spot to grab a pint, enjoy elevated comfort food, and gather with friends.

A New Chapter for a Familiar Corner

With the Scarlet Rose Bistro sitting dark for nearly a year, this transformation has the community feeling hopeful.

The Best of South Shore Bar Pizza

There's pizza, and then there's South Shore Bar Pizza. Birthed in Brockton (and to this writer, perfected in Randolph – Lynwood Café is the true G.O.A.T.), it must meet certain qualifications to be considered "SSBP," which include: it's a 10-inch pie; it has a thin, cracker-like crust with minimal "flop;" the cheese is a blend that features more cheddar than mozzarella; and bonus points if you take it home between two carboard-type plates wrapped in flat brown paper bag. They also usually come with "laced" or "burnt" edges (terminology depends on where you are ordering), which is when the sauce and cheese are extended all the way to the edge of the pan, creating a crispy, flavorful coating to the crust. We reached out to the hugely popular South Shore Bar Pizza Social Club Facebook group to ask the experts to share the best of the best (in no particular order).
