Brush With the Law: Wareham Police Seek Male Suspect in Ulta Beauty Theft
It's not often that you see a "wanted" photo of a middle-aged man suspected of shoplifting from Ulta Beauty, but that's what Wareham Police have posted on their Facebook page. Now they're asking for the public's help to identify the man.
This raises questions, the obvious one being: What could this suspect possibly want at the makeup store?
Yes, some men wear makeup, but judging by the surveillance photo provided by Wareham PD, it doesn't appear the suspect is wearing any foundation or eyeliner.
Hard to tell if the suspect was wearing makeup? Normally, I'd agree. Most retail store surveillance photos are ridiculously grainy to the point of making you wonder why the cameras are in place at all. However, the photo circulating this week couldn't be clearer. The suspect could use it as a profile pic when this is all said and done.
We spoke with Detective William deSilva from the Wareham Police Department. The detective told us that it wasn't the makeup at the Wareham Crossing Ulta the suspect was targeting.
"It was an expensive Dyson hair dryer, but I don't think he's using it," deSilva said. "I'm sure he's reselling it. That's exactly what's happening."
The hair dryer is worth over $400. A quick Amazon search shows the dryer retailing at $429.99. Instyle.com ranked the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer as the No. 1 Best Splurge out of the more than 20 dryers staff tried. They loved that the "power, speed and technology are all packaged into one buzzy hair dryer."
Police said the item was taken from Ulta on Jan. 14 around 4 p.m. According to deSilva, the suspect has not yet been identified.
