ROCHESTER — The victim in Sunday's fatal fire in Rochester has now been identified.

The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office says the man who died in the fire at 1008 Walnut Plain Road was 62-year-old Richard Cutcliffe, of that address.

A 911 call came in Sunday morning at approximately 9:06 a.m. from a neighbor reporting that residence was on fire, and that one occupant was outside the house and a male occupant was still inside.

Firefighters found Cutcliffe unconscious on the first floor, and paramedics tried to resuscitate him. He was taken to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, where he was pronounced dead. The female occupant who had escaped the fire was also transported to Tobey and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The family's dog was also found dead during fire suppression operations.

The State Fire Marshal's Office says the fire appears at this time to have been accidental.
