Arrest Made in Taunton Stabbing Incident on Paul Bunker Drive

TAUNTON (WBSM) — An arrest has been made in connection to the stabbing incident in Taunton that happened Tuesday afternoon on Paul Bunker Drive.

Cye Key, 24, of Taunton was placed under arrest and was charged with home invasion, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (two counts), and possession of a Class B substance (crack cocaine).

Key was arraigned Wednesday morning in Taunton District Court and was held pending a dangerousness hearing on a date to be determined.

He also had outstanding warrants for his arrest from previous incidents.

At about 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, police responded to Paul Bunker Drive for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located three Taunton men – one 19 years old and the other two 21 years old – who had been injured.

The three victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Key was also transported to a hospital and was treated for minor injuries.

Investigations determined that Key had allegedly entered an apartment armed with a hammer and a large knife and began attacking the victims.

The investigation also determined that the incident resulted from an argument the night before.

Key was previously convicted in 2019 for shooting a store clerk during an attempted robbery and was sentenced to five to seven years in state prison.
