Thousands of Easter egg toys from Target are being recalled for being life-threatening if swallowed.

the toy then needs to be surgically removed

Target's Hatch and Grow Easter Egg are intended to grow in water before a child's eyes. But are being recalled because they can lead to life-threatening complications if swallowed.

Since the toys expand in water, they also expand inside the child if they are swallowed.

This can lead to intestinal obstructions, severe discomfort, vomiting and dehydration and the toy then needs to be surgically removed. It also may not even show up on an X-ray.

Over 560,000 of the eggs have already been sold nationwide between February 2017 and March 2017. They retailed for $1.

ake the toy away from their child and return it to Target for a full refund

There were also different kinds of Hatch and Grow eggs, Hatch & Grow Easter Eggs, Easter Grow Toys and Hatch Your Own Dino. The Hatch & Grow Easter Eggs and Easter Grow Toys have model number 234-25-1200 on the back of their packaging and are pink, blue, or purple. The Hatch & Grow Easter Eggs include a white bunny, brown bunny, or butterfly. The Easter Grow Toys include a yellow chick, brown bunny, or white bunny.

The Hatch Your Own Dino Egg has model number 234-09-0016 on the label inserted in the product’s packaging. Those eggs are purple or yellow/green and contain one of eleven dinosaurs.

No injuries have been reported, but parents are urged to take the toy away from their child and return it to Target for a full refund.
