Suspect to Wareham Police: ‘You Pigs, I Hope You Get Shot’
WAREHAM — A man is arrested after going on an anti-police tirade and attempting to spit on an officer, after he was caught driving with a suspended license.
Friday at about 6:45 p.m., Officer Eric Machado of the Wareham Police Department pulled over a motor vehicle in area of Dogwood Lane. The operator of the car, 39-year-old Andy Morales of 448 Main Street in Wareham, exited the car quickly and put his hands on the hood of Officer Machado’s cruiser, without being prompted to do so.
Officer Machado, who is familiar with Morales, secured him in handcuffs due to his unpredictable behavior. As soon as he was secured, Morales began screaming vulgarities, yelling “You pigs, I hope you get shot” and going on a tirade about the police.
As part of the on-scene investigation, it was determined that Morales had a suspended driver’s license and he was placed under arrest. While being transported to the police station, Morales attempted to spit at Officer Machado; however, the partition between the front and back of the cruiser prevented anything from striking the officer.
Arriving at the police station, Sgt. Herbert Noble and Officers Michael Phinney and James White had to assist in getting the very combative Morales into the building. Morales was booked with difficulty and finally placed into a holding cell, where he continued his tirade.
Morales is due in Wareham District Court on Monday morning on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense); disturbing the peace; and disorderly conduct (subsequent offense).
