Did Subway Just Take a Shot at Jersey Mike’s Day of Giving?
We told you about Jersey Mike's "Day of Giving" earlier today This charity effort has been running since 2011. Each Jersey Mike's region gets to choose the charity that makes the most sense for its local community.
Here on the SouthCoast, that means a huge donation to the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation. Over the past five years, the Flutie Foundation has received more than $2.1 million, directly helping Massachusetts families affected by autism.
To say that Jersey Mike's "Day of Giving" is generous would be an understatement. The company donates every penny that comes into their restaurants nationwide for one day.

That means a 100 percent donation of food, drink and chip sales; it’s absolutely incredible. If there’s another restaurant or company doing something on this level, I’m certainly not aware of it.
Subway enters the conversation.

Coincidentally, Subway sent out a very attractive coupon to its loyalty database this afternoon at 12:05 p.m. – just as the lunch rush was about to begin.
The coupon, blasted to its loyalty customers’ email addresses, offered an $8.99 footlong combo meal, including a meatball sub, chips and a drink. That’s a deal worth taking action on!
One problem: the coupon is only valid today and tomorrow. This raises the question, was this a direct shot at Jersey Mike's "Day of Giving?"
We'd like to believe it was just a coincidence. We reached out to Subway for comment but had not heard back as of this writing.
If you are tempted to use the Subway coupon, we urge you to save it for tomorrow and support local families today at Jersey Mike's.
We're sure this must have been an oversight by Subway. There's no way they're out there trying to undercut a "Day of Giving" fundraiser for the Flutie Foundation.
