St. Annes Hospital has the right idea by awarding their employees for their great ideas pertaining to the company.

This is the first time the Health System has offered this incentive/reward program and it was a complete success. How it works is simple: The employees are encouraged to come up with ideas about cost savings, improving the patient experience, improving efficiencies, etc. that will help the company grow.

The "Big Idea" Program is offered year round and amongst the ideas submitted, seven employees were chosen and each person received a cash award.

First Place for the best idea was awarded to Lori Arsenault from the Pain Management Department, this was her idea:

"Standardize the pricing of dosimetry badges (devices that measure exposure to radiation)."

Arsenault was awarded $500 for her ideology on cost savings within the medical department.

Second place was awarded to three people: Lisa Porawski, ED/Denise Crawford, ED/Maria Torres, St. Dominic- each winning $300. Their submissions pertained to office supply waste and linen distribution/disposal.

Finally, third place was awarded to the four other staff members: Deborah Magiera, Pharmacy/Pamala Huckabee, HR/Susan O'Sullivan, Administrative Oncology/John Panchley, Facilities- each awarded $100 for their idea submissions dealing with MD paging system improvements, periodic review of employee records, elimination of communication devices not in use (cell phones, pagers, etc) and even a clearing house for unwanted items that could save costs tremendously.

Congratulations to all employees of St. Annes Hospital, your "out-of-the-box" ideology and thinking will surely increase the progression of the company to move forward in an efficient and intellectual manner!
