SouthCoast’s 7 Riskiest Spots to Get Whacked for Speeding
The numbers are out! Here are the 7 stretches of highways close to the SouthCoast to avoid if you don't want to get a speeding ticket.
Nobody enjoys getting pulled over and getting a ticket. It always seems to happen at the most inopportune time, when you are in the biggest rush and making an already bad day even worse. Regardless, getting pulled over happens, and according to some new numbers released to Boston's Fox 25, it happens hundreds of times a day, every single day, across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Fox 25 filed a public records request with the Massachusetts State Police and found some very interesting nuggets of information. For example, the most likely day to get pulled over by the Mass State Police is on a Wednesday (19,199 cars were pulled over on Wednesdays in 2023). The least likely day might surprise you! Surprisingly, the least likely day to get a ticket is on a Monday (17,158). Weekend number are also relatively low but that's probably because there don't tend to be the same volume of traffic over the weekend as during weekdays.
The report also contained some pretty detailed information about WHERE the most tickets are written by the State Police in Massachusetts. Any guesses? Here's a surprising hint: it's not in Boston. In fact, Boston didn't place in the Top 5. The only risky spot to speed in Boston is on the Mass Pike. Let's face it, traffic is probably so congested in Boston most of the time that speeding would be impossible.
We combed through the list of all of the hotspots to get ticketed across Massachusetts and came up with the 7 riskiest places to speed on the SouthCoast.
