Don’t Panic, SouthCoast, This Reduced Dunkin’ Menu Is Only a Test
Remember the test of the emergency broadcast system? It would say, "this is a test...this is only a test." They were words that were meant to calm any fear, any panic that might have been caused by hearing that eerie piercing tone.
The exclusive purpose of this article is to accomplish the same thing surrounding a new test menu from Dunkin'. This flyer somehow ended up in the hands of a Fun 107 listener, who immediately panicked and called us.
It turns out, this is only a test.
The flyer shows a test menu that Dunkin' is rolling out in a handful of spots in and around Rhode Island and the SouthCoast. According to the Dunkin' optimized menu test, some items that would be eliminated in participating stores include jelly donuts, powdered donuts, chocolate chip muffins, strawberry Coolattas, Dunkaccinos, and a couple dozen other items.
The exact number of Dunkin' stores that will be serving this new simplified menu is unknown, and the duration of the test is also unknown.
When it comes to Dunkin' things like this tend to get tested in Massachusetts and Rhode Island stores because the world headquarters is in Canton, so it makes sense geographically. They are all independent franchisees. This general area is occasionally used as the test market for menu changes, or for some of the cool, limited time only products, such as the Halloween spider donut. New flavors that are dreamed up in the test kitchen in Canton, will often get tested in this neck of the woods.
In summary, if you happen to go into one of the local Dunkin' shops that are utilizing the optimized test menu, do not worry, this is only a test, and there are no plans at this time for any major changes.
