If you are not familiar with DECA, it is an organization that helps SouthCoast high school students, and students across the country, gain experience in the business world. It is a competition that pits the students against one another as they try to pitch and solve issues in different categories of business.

For example, one student might be playing the part of a marketing director for a supermarket chain that is getting involved in a fundraiser. The student will have 30 minutes to pull together a plan for what they would do if they were trying to get involved with a fundraising event without just a straight money donation. The student might decide to hold a chili cookoff featuring many of the area's local chefs using their supermarket produce, spices and ground beef. The chili could be sold to the public during the live event to raise money for the charity.

Of course, the plan is not actually put into place, it is an exercise of ingenuity and imagination.

Massachusetts DECA (Business club) is preparing for the state finals coming up on March 11th at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. DECA is looking for people who are willing to volunteer their day to serve as a judge for their first in-person state conference in two years!

No experience in judging is needed. If you own a business, work for a business in any field, or if you'd like to volunteer, you can click here.

Judges and volunteers will be treated to valet parking, breakfast, lunch, and a thank you gift. You'll also get the chance to meet some of the Bay State's future entrepreneurs.
