Police warn South Coast Residents of a scam 

Someret Police Chief George McNeil is warning area residents all over the South Coast of a scam that could cost you money. Police state they are working with other police agencies along the 195 and Rt six corridor to be on the lookout for a scam that steals your account information right off your ATM/Debit card.

The scam works like this , The bad guys install skimmers that are “essentially malicious card readers that grab data off the card’s magnetic stripe

They can, then obtain data from each person who swipes a card. Criminals can encode the stolen data into a blank card and use it to look at the customer’s bank account.

There are some things you can do to protect yourself from this scam

Look for obvious signs of tampering at the top of the ATM, near the speakers and the side of the screen, the card reader itself and the keyboard. Check the ATM machine for any loose parts, such as the keyboard and covering up with one of your hands hands typing the PIN keyboard.

Like we need one more thing to worry about , Becarefull , Always report concerning activity to your local police and financial institutions.
