Smoking Ban May Finally Come To Westport Beaches

Most public places have banned smoking, but as of the moment it's still allowed at town beaches in Westport. That may change very soon. The two State beaches in the town, Horseneck and Gooseberry already have smoking bans, but town beaches, including East Beach, Cherry & Webb Beach and Knubble Beach have no smoking restrictions.

The Westport director of public health has now pitched the "no smoking: idea to the town's beach committee. The Herald News reports that the board has been receptive to the idea and already has the signs to post if the ban is approved.

The report also says that state plans to better enforce the smoking bans already in place at Horseneck and Gooseberry.
