No damage has been reported from a minor earthquake that was felt in the northern part of Massachusetts on Tuesday night.  The quake was reported to be a magnitude 1.7 that was centered near the community of Athol.

According to Boston.com, a quake that minor is usually not even felt by humans.  However, social media and calls to police in the area indicated that many people heard a loud bang, and some also felt the quake.

Athol is in the central area of Massachusetts, west of Route 91, not far from the New Hampshire border.
